Not much to say about this one. Sometimes things work out and sometimes they flop. I had grand ideas of painting my nails this pretty purple by OPI called You’re Such a Budapest but felt that it was too plain when I was done. So I went back to my stash and thought hey maybe if I add a glitter it will give it a little more visual interest. So out came Essie’s A Cut Above. I immediately regretted this after painting the first two nails but it was too late to turn back then so I rolled with it and did it anyways. Overall impression: meh. Better luck next time!

Weekends, Waffles & Walks

IMG_4027 - Version 2  IMG_4037IMG_4041 IMG_4044 IMG_4049

Lately our weekends have been on quite a routine: We wake up in the morning and I slowly mosey out of bed while Benjamin is already halfway through a cup of coffee. This usually is followed by a proclamation how nice it is to sleep in and how much I love the weekends. What’s not to love about sleeping in and enjoying the sunshine?? Half an hour and a cup of hot tea later I’m ready to go.

I’ve been loving our walks so we make it a point to go for one every Saturday and Sunday morning. Breathing in the sunshine and salty, fresh air is beyond refreshing after a long week of work. While we are living here we have to take advantage of being able to do things like walk to the beach and enjoy this town. I remind myself every time we’re down on the beach that people come here on vacation and we’re lucky enough to live here.

I write this just as I’m taking my last few sips of tea. And just like clockwork, we’ll head out and do the same thing again today. And I couldn’t be any happier!

Happy Saturday!

Manicure Monday: Wine to Five

Hello blogging world, meet my new favorite dark red. This color Wine to Five by CoverGirl is absolutely divine. I’ve been nothing but impressed with these polishes. The formula is a dream. It’s creamy, opaque and so gorgeous. This could easily be a one coater but I did two just to be safe. The color makes my nails look like I just got a gel manicure. And who doesn’t like that?! Every time I use of these CoverGirl polishes I think to myself: I really have to pick up more of these colors!

What I Wore: Sunny Sunday

The weather here has been a little bit all over the place. One day its warm and sunny, the next cool and partly cloudy, then full on 80 degrees and the beaches are packed. Today, I’m looking out the window and its cool and cloudy but this time last week it was a blissful 82 degrees and sunny as can be. This, of course, means that I’m wearing nothing less than bright yellow and my favorite sandals. We headed out for a little outlet shopping, lunch and lounging out in the sunshine. Hope you enjoy the look!

What I Wore: Car Shopping

IMG_8034

This kind of thing doesn’t exactly come around often so I felt that I had to dress appropriately. My car was nearing 16 years old this year and I’ve been saving to get a new car for about a year now. The straw that broke the camel’s back was a few weeks ago when I got home from work. I came home just fine and wanted to drop a few things off at home before running out for a few errands. A couple of minutes later I walked out ready to go, got in the car, and it wouldn’t start. That was about 3 weeks ago. It still won’t start. My family could use the car for my brother that just turned 16 so it all kind of led me to buying a new car.

So I bought a new car.

A brand new car.

And I’m thrilled about it! I’ve been loving how it drives and how comfortable it feels. The heated seats were just the cherry on top. Enjoy! 🙂

What I Wore: Rain, Rain Go Away

IMG_7981

Just kidding. Please stay. I love rain more than any Californian should. I even wish for it sometimes. Well, a lot of the time. See being in California we get a lot of sunshine and thats awesome but sometimes I want a stormy day with pouring rain and thunder and dark, ominous clouds and hot chocolate and cuddles on the couch. You get the idea. Rain just makes me happy. I get giddy like a 3 year old and stare out the window up into the sky as if its the first time I’ve ever witnessed those little drops falling from the sky. Something about it is so soothing yet wildly exciting, especially when thunder really roars through the sky. I’ve lived in places were stuff like this exists and I will tell you I miss it from time to time.

That being said, I’ll be the first to admit that I definitely don’t want it every day. A few days a month would be perfect. Please and thank you. Girlfriend needs a reason to wear cute rainboots, you know what I’m sayin? (and maybe a reason to justify buying a third pair…)

What I Wore: Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

Last week Benjamin and I finally had a day off together. It feels like its been weeks, which it has, since our work schedules don’t exactly coincide. I used to work weekends, he doesn’t. So we hadn’t had a day together in a while. We had grand plans of hanging pictures in the apartment, going on a run, and running errands. But after a lazy morning, which was awesome by the way, we ended up spending the afternoon at Nordstrom Rack. Which was TOTALLY not my doing in the slightest bit. Ok, yeah, it was. (Sorry Ben!) But, not to worry. It is a thing of the past now because I’ve just started my newly promoted position!!! I’m absolutely thrilled about it!

Anyways, the outfit. To me this feels like a fresh twist on classic pieces.  You should know that I am obsessed with the color yellow. I know its not for everyone but I just can’t help but be happy when I’m basically wearing sunshine. Actually this whole outfit is full of favorites. Stripes = favorite. J.Crew cardigans? Can’t go wrong. Top it off with the comfiest ballet flats and dainty necklace. Enjoy the look!

Manicure Monday: Pyrotechnic

Another Formula X for Sephora color… Are you surprised??? I received this little gem called Pyrotechnic as a free gift a few months back when they first released the entire collection. I’m sad to admit that this is only the second time I’ve worn it because I’m actually thrilled with this polish. The color, the thick formula, the pigmentation. Amazing. Move over OPI, there’s a new favorite red in town!
